A general basis of rap-dialect that sometimes crosses the boarder into grammatically undecipherable is found in a number of songs by artists in said genre, such as Nicki Minaj. However, not all lyrics are constructed in this manner. Such an idea is true with statements like double entendres, such as Britney Spears hit, "Hold it Against Me" where she sings, "if I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?" The double entendre exists because she is not simply saying, 'would you be mad at me for wanting your body,' but she could also be saying, 'would you physically put yourself against me if I told you I wanted your body?' My favorite part about this artistry is when I can reread the statement several times and walk away with a different, yet relevant meaning each time. There is something to be said for lyrical artists who take grammar into their own hands.
